Once, Nancy was traveling to Russia with her husband. After arriving at Moscow, the capital city of Russia, they chose to stay at a hotel not down-town Moscow. From there, they spent much time to reach an exhibition where they met a merchant from Europe.

 

“The coffee you are drinking is from this coffee machine. It took me such a long time and much paper work to get it into this nation.” Nancy and her husband found it so surprising! What is even more shocking would be the fact the European merchant was afraid Nancy and her husband would be in danger, so they were given the number of the merchant and his embassy there in Moscow!

 

 

 

 

 

This is a story to be used for the first time we meet for the Shining Life Gatherings in the days to come.

 

Shining Life Gatherings

Background Story:

 

“Let me sit here beside the door. It’s cold out and I am wearing warm enough.” The last lady arrived marked.

 

 

I was taken to this restaurant for dinner. The temperature was around 10 degrees Celsius or 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Though I was still in my sleeve-less blouse and skirt, many were “wrapping” themselves with jackets or sweaters as thick as fleece blankets. Aware I am vegetarian, these very friendly individuals whom I had never had the pleasure to meet were ordering dishes of vegetables which were laid in front of me whereas they were indulging themselves into the delicacies of that particular restaurant where many of them told stories of their traveling to the world, places they’ve lived, and so on. A part of one of the stories shared was summarized at the top of this work. I am positive that in the days to come, there will be more fabulously delightful anecdotes from real people around me, people that I know, people who are with layers and layers of incidences taking place in their lives.

 

 

Often I wonder the reasons of my existence as an educator, that I have had the pleasure to teach people of all backgrounds, that when I see them, regardless of their age or skin color, I see them both in their youths and their aged forms. Exactly! When I see a baby, I also see that baby as an old person, whereas when an elderly person is in front of me, I tend to see that person when s/he is a lot younger. Would this be one of the major reasons I am fond of old photos? Instead of stating things this way, perhaps I must stress how I have enjoyed meeting people; seeing them makes me feel my world can be split into different forms to fit into their existences!

 

 

Through the creation and birth of a new group, a much voluntary one aiming at bringing purposes and happiness to all, I wonder what the next chapters of all our lives will be, esp. immediately after hearing that I would like to hold a gathering focusing on people sharing wonderful stories with each other, Sisi, another person present, remarked,

“I like the idea!” And when everyone is exchanging ideas, I would take notes in my mind, just like that day at the restaurant, while putting just one part of the stories into English, so that when things are shared, a little bit of English is learned, fueling the need of everyone’s wish to be more bilingual in a more pleasant way without any textbooks.

 

 

 

 

 

有一次，Nancy 與她的丈夫一同前往俄羅斯旅行。抵達俄羅斯首都莫斯科後，他們選擇入住一間不在莫斯科市中心的飯店。從那裡出發，他們花了不少時間前往一場展覽，並在那裡遇見了一位來自歐洲的商人。

 

那位商人說道：

「你們正在喝的咖啡，就是來自這一台咖啡機。我花了非常長的時間，也完成了大量的文書作業，才得以把它引進這個國家。」

Nancy 和她的丈夫對此感到十分驚訝！而更令人震撼的是，這位歐洲商人竟然擔心 Nancy 與她的丈夫的人身安全，於是把自己的聯絡電話，以及他在莫斯科的使館電話一併給了他們！

 

 

 

 

這是一個故事，我們未來將用於我們的溫馨聚會場合!!!

**大好人生溫馨分享的源起**

 

「讓我坐在這裡、靠近門口吧，外頭很冷，而我穿得夠暖。」那晚最後一位赴宴的女士如此說道。

 

 

這是我第一次來到這家餐廳，當時的氣溫約為攝氏 10 度（華氏 50 度），儘管我一如往常，仍穿著無袖上衣與裙子，許多人卻早已用厚重得如同羊毛毯般的外套或毛衣，把自己層層包裹起來。得知我是素食者後，這好幾位我素未平生卻又溫暖如同春天陽光般的諸位人士，特地點了多道蔬食料理明明白白放在我的面前。

 

 

大家盡情享用該餐廳特色佳餚的同時，席間，大家也自是談笑風生，分享著自己走遍世界的經歷、曾經居住過的地方等等。其中一則故事的部分內容，已在本文開頭摘要呈現。我深信，在接下來的日子裡，將會有更多來自我身邊真人真事，再怎麼說，我所認識的每一人其生命都有著一層又一層的事件不斷交織著。

 

 

我時常思索自己身為一名教育者的所為何來，使我有幸與來自各種不同背景的人教學相長；而當我看著他們時，無論年齡或膚色，我彷彿同時看見他們年輕時的樣貌，也看見他們年老時的模樣。沒錯！

 

 

當我看見一個嬰兒時，我也似乎可以看見那位嬰兒成為老者之時的模樣；而當一位長者站在我面前時，我則往往又好像見到了他年輕時侯的相貌。

 

 

不知道這些是否成為我如此喜愛老舊相片的主因？

 

 

或許，與其如此表述，我更應該強調的是我有多麼享受人與人之間的相遇，所以那些杯碗的收拾可能讓我將自己與空勤工作相連，但我更喜歡的應該是人我互動間可能存在的純粹和樸實，在一種良善的起心動念間，我感覺自己的世界能被拆組成不同的形式，以融入他人的存在之中。

 

 

透過一個全新團體的創立與誕生——一個更具自發性、以為所有人帶來人生目的與幸福為宗旨的團體——我不禁好奇，我們每個人的人生接下來會展開什麼樣的篇章。尤其是在我提到，希望舉辦一場讓人們彼此分享美好故事的聚會之後，在場的另一位朋友 Sisi 立刻回應道：

「這個點子太棒了！」

 

 

於是，一如往常，當大家彼此交換想法時，我會在心中默記這些觀點，同時將故事的某個部分轉化為英語，以供分享與討論。

 

 

這樣的分享與討論，使人們更自然而然在一般般的情況下使用到一點點英文，於是大家可以在沒有教科書、沒有所謂「文法解說」的束縛之下，以輕鬆愉快的方式，滋養每個人想要成為雙語使用者的渴望。
